Betsy Byars

American author of many children's books. She began to write magazine articles, but became interested in writing children's books after reading stories to her own children. Soon a successful career in the genre developed. As well as being highly prolific, Betsy has also won many awards for her books, including the Newbery Medal for The Summer of the Swans. She has written three pony related stories, all with a fantasy theme and very unusual horses!

Easy to find in the USA and usually low cost. For UK and other buyers, the books are a harder to find and more expensive.
